FOOTBALL: RAHS squad distributes season honors

The 2011 Reedsburg Area High School football season came to an official end as the team held its annual awards banquet Tuesday night at RAHS.

Coach Brian Pottinger and the Beavers finished with a 2-7 overall record and 1-5 Badger North Conference record. Reedsburg picked up victories over Stoughton Aug. 26 and Portage in the final game of the season Oct. 14.

Luke Bjorklund was named Most Valuable Player on offense, Colton Brott was named MVP on defense and Tyler Arneson was named Special Teams Player of the Year.

The Most Improved Offensive Player award was shared by Wes Reimer and Tom Myers, and the Most Improved Defensive Player award went to Caleb Senzig.

The Outstanding Offensive Lineman award was presented to Brett Deakin; the Outstanding Defensive Lineman award went to Christensen.

Brott, Senzig, Nick Christensen and Deakin were all named to the Badger North all-conference team and Brott, Deakin and Christensen were named team captains for the year.

Senior Awards were presented to Matt Archambo, Bjorklund, Brott, Christensen, Jacob Cohn, Deakin, Locksley Draves, Wes Ernstmeyer, Trae Finnegan, Gabe Gavin, Will Herritz, Alex Jernander, Jacob Kingsbury, Kyle Mundth, Reimer, Kyle Scanlon, Alex Stolte, Derrick Tourdot, Ben Turner, Dylan Westerwelle and Jamie Wischmann.

Iron Beaver Awards, for excellence in the weight room, were presented to Mundth, Reimer, Aaron Lopp, Nick Noye, Jamie Urban, Ernstmeyer, Travis Reinfeldt and Brott.

The Beaver Pride Award, presented to seniors committed to the team who didn't get much playing time, went to Jernander, Herritz, Scanlon and Westerwelle.

Bill and Barb Klang and Reedsburg Salvage were presented the Friends of the Program Award for their support of the program.
