NOWHERE TO RUN — Senior running back C.J. Zimmerman found little to no running room Friday night for the Fort Atkinson High School football team in its 40-2 Badger Conference crossover lost to host Reedsburg. Zimmerman totaled just 36 yards on 15 carries for a Blackhawk offense that has yet to score a single point so far this season (two games). REEDSBURG - A disastrous start led to another humbling defeat for the Fort Atkinson High School football team Friday night.

The Blackhawks (0-2) turned the ball over twice in the first quarter, trailed host Reedsburg 33-0 at halftime, and ended up falling 40-2 to the Beavers (1-1) in Badger Conference crossover action.

"We made mistakes, we had some turnovers, we had some penalties, and we didn't put the ball particularly well tonight" said FA coach Steve Mahoney. "Give Reedsburg a lot of credit though, they made it happen and we just weren't able to step up to it."

Fort Atkinson failed to score its first points of the night, and the season, until the midway point of the fourth quarter. Blackhawk freshman linebacker Nick Schulenburg tackled Reedsburg junior halfback Nate Nowak in the end zone to finally put FA on the scoreboard.

However, the Beavers scored the first 40 points of the night to put the game out of reach by halftime. Reedsburg scored two touchdowns before the first two minutes of regulation elapsed.

Senior running back C.J Zimmerman led all FA rushers with 36 yards on 15 carries. Fort Atkinson senior quarterback Nick Sanders completed five out of 10 passes for 59 yards with one interception.

The Blackhawk offense totaled 148 yards on the night, compared to 295 for Reedsburg.

Senior halfback Andy Huber totaled 82 yards on eight carries. He also added a 12-yard touchdown run.

Fort Atkinson will open Southern Badger Conference play Friday evening at home at Monona Grove. Kickoff at Blackhawk Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
